Inside the straw of Hydra Flux is an Ahlstrom electro-adsorptive filter in a protective shell.

When you sip, water passes through:

• Pre-filter support layer Helps catch visible particles like rust, sand and fine sediments.
• Ahlstrom electro-adsorptive media The fibers hold an electrical charge that helps pull in and trap many viruses and bacteria in suitable low-turbidity water. Tested in independent labs to reduce selected heavy metals such as nickel, lead and mercury under defined conditions.

💡 About the “pull” on the straw
Because there is real media in the filter, the first sips (especially on a new filter) will feel firmer than a hollow straw. After a proper flush and a bit of use, it settles into a steady, comfortable pull. That slight effort is the filtration working, not a defect.

• Never pour hot or boiling water through the filter module.
• When installing the filter, twist gently until it stops. Do not force.

First use

• Rinse the bottle, lid and straw with clean water.
• Assemble the straw + filter shell (see below).
• Hold the filter module under running water for about 60 seconds to flush out initial loose particles.
• Fill the bottle with clean tap or cooler water and start drinking.
• If you pause use for more than a few days, remove the filter, put it in a sealed bag/container in the fridge, and flush briefly again before returning to normal use.

Straw + filter shell assembly

• The filter cartridge sits inside a shell (as shown in photos).
• Insert the straw into the back of the shell until it stops.
• Line up the assembled piece with the hole in the lid.
• Push in and gently twist or click until it locks.

No need to fight it. Once it stops, it’s in. Over-tightening won’t make it “more secure”; it just risks the seal.

Daily use

• Fill from:
  • Office taps
  • Water coolers
  • Refill ATMs
  • Trusted springs where locals drink and no alerts have been given
• Always close the lid fully before putting it in a bag or laptop backpack.
• With the filter module installed:
  • Use cold or room-temperature water only.
  • Do not pour hot water through the filter.
• For hot drinks (tea, coffee, herbal infusions):
  • Remove the filter module first.
  • Use Hydra Flux as an insulated stainless flask.
  • Once the bottle cools down again, you can reinstall the filter for normal cold/room-temp use.

Filter life

• Rated for up to 150 L per filter.
• At about 1.5 L per day, most people replace the filter every 3–4 months.
• Time to change when:
  • Sipping becomes clearly harder than before, or
  • Taste/smell changes in a way that doesn’t match fresh performance.

Use only official Ultra Clear bottle filter modules compatible with Hydra Flux.

Cleaning

• Bottle (stainless): wash regularly with mild dish soap, rinse well, and let dry open.
• Lid & straw: hand-wash; avoid strong chemicals and rough scrubbers.
• Filter shell: rinse the outside in clean water only – no soap, detergent or boiling water on the filter media.
